Pencil Case Chromatography

STEM Stars use chromatography to design colorful pencil cases.

The girls in our STEM Stars program have been keeping busy since October 1, 2018 when our program launched in 20 sites in and around Pittsburgh!

Sites meet once or twice a week for hands-on STEM programming. Girls are introduced to the Engineering Design Process, the scientific method, life skills, character development, and they participate in college and career readiness activities.

This fall STEM Stars have completed numerous activities including building circuits for dance pads, creating kinetic sculptures, chromatography experiments, and engineering challenges.

In the month of November, we will hold our Saturday Academy event at Point Park University, where girls will attend workshops on financial literacy, admissions, and create Frankenpets with another Do-Goodery non-profit, Assemble!
